Alice Wright McCants

Alice Mae Wright McCants April 15, 1928-November 24, 2016 Alice Mae Wright McCants, age 88, wife to Marion Sumter McCants, Jr., entered into eternal rest on Thursday, November 24, 2016, surrounded by her family and loved ones. Mrs. McCants was born in Charleston, SC on April 15, 1928, a daughter of Luder Marion Wright and Kathleen Grooms Wright. She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Marion Sumter McCants, Jr., her daughters, Kathleen McCants Wehman (Fred), Nancy McCants Parnelle (Bubba) and her son, Robert Marion McCants (Laura); six granddaughters, Ryan Smith (David), Karen Abbott (Tyson), Jennifer Wilson (Brad), Kelli Williams (Tyler), Alice Wehman, Katie Speed (Ryan) and seven great-grandchildren, Robert and Sumter Wilson, Ellery, Carter and Hannah Smith and Layla and Harper Abbott. Mrs. McCants was a devoted wife, a loving mother, a caring and adoring grandmother. She was a graduate of Memminger High School class of 1946 and graduated from Saint Francis Xavier Infirmary Class of 1949. She worked at St. Francis Hospital as a Registered Nurse in the Labor and Delivery Department. Alice was an avid reader and loved to travel. Family and friends are invited to attend her Memorial Service at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 2, 2016 at John Wesley United Methodist Church, 626 Savannah Hwy. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the church parlor.
