Annie Brownlee King

Annie Lou Brownlee King, 92, of Charleston, South Carolina, widow of Thomas Preston (Pete) King, entered into eternal rest on Monday, February 2, 2015. Annie was one of ten children of Charles M. and Julia Wiggins Brownlee. She was predeceased by her husband Thomas Preston King and her son Thomas Preston King, Jr. and his wife , Mary Bailey King. She is survived by their children, Thomas Preston King III and his daughters , Alden, Glynn and Bailey; Anna (John) Bailes and their sons, Noah, Dylan and Drew, her son D . Philip King, his wife Ann L. King and their children Laura (Jon) Vroon and their children Hannah and Jonathan; Philip L. (Marianna) King and their son Benjamin; Stephen J. (Amanda) King and their children Porter and Joshua; and Elizabeth L. (Heath) Gunther, son Kenneth T. (Anne) King and their children Christopher T. (Carol) King, and LindseyA. King. She is also survived by one sister, Betty Brownlee Fernander. Annie Lou was born May 18, 1922 in Givhans, SC and spent her childhood years in downtown Charleston and attended Craft School and graduated from Murray Vocational school. She worked for many years as a clerk for the Charleston County Assessor's Office. She devoted her life to raising her family in Riverland Terrace. Education was very important to her and Pete and they were very proud of their three sons and determined to send them all to c ollege. They worked very hard to insure that this happened! Her friends and relatives are invited to attend her funeral service which will be held Friday, February 6 at 11:00am at St James Church, 1872 Camp Road, James Island. Family will receive friends at a reception in the Ministry Center immediately following the service. Donations can be made in her honor to Saint James Church.
