Anthony Csavas

Anthony 'Tony' Csavas, 46, died Friday, April 25, in Charleston, SC. Surviving are his partner of seven years, Karen Ann Myers of Charleston, SC; his parents, Zoltan and Caroline Csavas of Placida, FL; and brother, Theo Csavas, his partner Tara and son Henry of Santa Rosa, CA. Born on January 24, 1968, in Iowa, Tony spent most of his life in Northern California. He graduated from St. Helena High in 1986 and completed a bachelor's degree in fine arts from the University of California Santa Cruz in 1992. He lived and painted in Santa Rosa from 1992 until 2009, where he made many friends and had many adventures. Tony completed a master's degree in fine arts in painting at Boston University in 2009. From 2009-2014,Tony taught painting and drawing for the College of Charleston Studio Art Department and was also a painting instructor with the Charleston County School District Summer Art Institute. Tony exhibited his work nationally including in Charleston, Boston and Santa Rosa. He loved to go on long walks and ride his bicycle in Charleston, SC. He documented the people, places and things around him, often turning them into beautiful paintings. His passion for art was infectious and, as a professor and friend, he inspired and encouraged many to become artists, giving them confidence to pursue their dreams. Always generous, Tony touched people's lives in incredible ways. He will be deeply missed by the many friends he made in St. Helena, Santa Rosa, Boston and Charleston. His death is a heartbreaking loss to his family and friends that love him dearly.
