He met his wife Betty on assignment in Moscow, and they married in 1957 in Newington, Connecticut. Moved to Isle of Palms, SC in 1963 after retiring from the Navy. He worked as a supply officer at the Navy Shipyard in Charleston and retired in 1987. He had been a member of the Isle of Palms Exchange Club, Stella Maris Men's Club, and was a lifetime member of the VFW Post on the Coast. Cal loved his family and cooked brunch for anyone that showed up every Sunday, "just so he could see them". You would often see Cal, gardening, walking the beach, cutting his grass and his neighbor's grass, patching holes in city sidewalks and trimming back bushes along the sidewalks for the golf carts and pedestrians. There are many fond memories of cooking and having adult beverages, whether it be at the Post on the Coast or in his garage with the "Codge", and he will be missed!
