Charles Leftwich Cummings

Charles L. Cummings, 71, of Hattiesburg, Mississippi died Thursday November 1st, 2012 at the Medical University of South Carolina surrounded by his loving family. Chuck was born on November 22, 1940 in Greensboro, NC. He was the son of the late Earl and Annie Sue Cummings. While growing up, he lived in North Carolina and Michigan. Upon graduation from high school, he joined the United States Army. He spent his career in transportation management. He retired from Yellow Freight in 1997. Chuck married the love of his life, Lois, on September 15, 1973. They spent 39 years together traveling the world, golfing, and enjoying their family. Chuck is preceded in death by his brother, Hugh Larry Cummings, and his beloved son, Christopher Cummings. Chuck is survived by his loving wife, Lois, and his daughter and son-in-law, Tamara and Joe Bowman. He is survived by his three granddaughters; Jennifer Rodecki, Julianna Bowman, and Alyssa Bowman and three grandsons; Jason, Charles, and Michael Cummings. He is also survived by 5 great-grandsons and 3 great-granddaughters. St Jude Children’s Charities were meaningful to Chuck. He regularly supported their efforts.
