A daughter of the late Charles E Gay and Myrtle Agnes Gay, she was born on December 9, 1926 in Emporia, KA. She was a member of John Wesley United Methodist Church, Charleston.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Grover L. Burkey. Emma is survived by her son, Greg Alan Burkey and his wife Maribeth, Lombard, IL; a daughter, Linda Dean, Beaufort, SC; a granddaughter, Michelle Burkey and her husband Richard Kraetsch, III and a grandson, Gregory Burkey.
