Gary A. Geer, 61, of Charleston, SC, beloved husband of Marion Smith Geer, died June 25, 2013 surrounded by his family at his residence, after a long battle of Celiac Disease with complications. Born February 14, 1952 in Stamford, CT, he was the son of the late Robert T. Geer and the late Audrey Joan Taylor Geer. He was preceded by his sister, Cheryl J. Santagato. Surviving in addition to his wife of almost 37 years, is his daughter, Michele E. Geer of the USAF, Okinawa, Japan; 2 brothers, Robert D. Geer (Tracy) of Milford, CT and Kevin J. Geer (Karen) of Charleston, SC; his mother-in-law, Gladys L. Smith of Charleston, SC; his aunt, Jean Docimo of Stamford, CT; his uncles, James L. Odle of Charleston, SC and James Taylor of Southbury, CT; his sisters-in-law, Linda L. Smith (Robby) Of Stamford, CT and Barbara Jones of Stamford, CT; several cousins, neices, nephews, friends and neighbors. Prior to relocating to Charleston, he was employed by Interstate Lumber Mill of Stamford, CT for 16 years. Recently, he was employed by Omni Services of Charleston as a Master Carpenter/Project Manager. He was a dedicated NASCAR fan. He also loved music in any form and was often seen around town playing his washboard. To the younger generation he was known as “Mr. G.” He loved to go on cruises and enjoyed the last one in September of 2012. The Shih Tzu dogs were loved by him especially Lynn Lynn. A Celebration of Life is scheduled for Sunday, July 14, 2013 at 2:30PM at the Palmetto Community Church, 1965 Bees Ferry Road, Charleston, SC 29414. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Marion E. Geer Special Account, First Federal of Charleston, 1995 Magwood Road or to Caris Hospice, 3751 Live Oak Drive, Suite E, Moncks Corner, SC 29461. The family wishes to express their heartfelt appreciation to all of Gary’s caregivers, including Roper St. Francis West Ashley, Caris Hospice, Dr. Lingerfelt with Charleston Hematology & Oncology Associates, Dr. Bohler and his Associates, and Pallative Care.
