Harold Warnquist

Harold Warnquist, 98, died Tuesday, September 23, 2014, in Charleston, SC. He was born June 8, 1916 in Brooklyn, New York. He grew up in Bay Ridge Brooklyn, moving later to Huntington Station, NY. Harold served in World War II in the United States Navy. After retiring, he and his wife Ruth lived in Oneonta, NY and Sarasota, FL. After his wife passed in 2000, he moved to Charleston SC. Many James Island residents would recognize him as the gentleman with the baseball cap shopping in Publix on Folly Road. He is survived by his daughters: Christine Warnquist, Johns Island, SC and Ruth (Peter) Sansiviero, Huntington, NY; his grandchildren: Kristin Turner, of Breckenridge, CO, Erika (Rob) Lamble, of Mt. Pleasant, SC, Krysti (Mike) O’Rourke; Wayne (Peg) Sansiviero, Scot Sansiviero; all of Huntington, NY and Peter (Lisa) Sansiviero, of Houston, TX, and 7 great grandchildren, nieces, nephew and cousins. He was predeceased by his wife Ruth Rogers Warnquist; a grandson, Geoffrey Turner; and his brother Edward Warnquist. Special thanks to Embrace Hospice, AllCare Living Services, Ashley Park Retirement Living, HomeCare Assistance, special friends Linda, John and Suzanne for all of their support and caring for Harold in these last few months.
