Jay’Vonte’ Shayquan Williams (Jay), 18, was born on January 20, 1995 in Richmond, Virginia to the late Jacob Leroy Clark and Janice Williams. He departed this life while at home in Hanahan, SC on August 27, 2013. Jay was formerly a student at Hillcrest High School in Simpsonville, SC before transferring to Hanahan High School in Berkley County. Jay loved sports and was a huge Duke University basketball and New York Giants football fan. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends at Discovery Island Waterpark in Simpsonville before moving to Hanahan. While living in the Charleston area, he met a lot of new people who helped him through his journey, especially his Camp Happy Days family. He leaves to cherish his memories: His mother, Janice Williams(Greenville, SC); one brother, De’Vonte’ Williams(Simpsonville, SC); 4 aunts, Susie Turner, Tonya Underwood, Earlene Williams, and Juanita Hunt all from Richmond, VA; 4 uncles, the late Aaron Williams(High Point, NC), Willie Williams and Ricky Williams both of Nashville, NC and John Williams(Rocky Mount, NC); his God mother, Pamela Batts(Rocky Mount, NC); his God grandmother, Barbara Rogers(Greenville, SC); loving caregivers, Marty and Carol Meier and their daughter, Teah Meier of the home. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, September 21, 2013 at 2:00pm at Simpsonville First Baptist Church, 3 Hedge Street, Simpsonville, SC 29681. His remains have been entrusted to Palmetto Cremation Society of Charleston, SC. In Lieu of Flowers, it is Jay’s request that donations be made to Camp Happy Days 1622 Ashley Hall Rd. Charleston, SC 29407
