Larry W. Jones MT. PLEASANT - Mr. Larry W. Jones, 74, loving husband of Elaine Bunch Jones died Thursday, November 15th at his residence in Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina. Mr. Jones was born February 22, 1938 in Charleston, SC son of the late Leon G. Jones and Estelle M. Jones. Mr. Jones was a graduate of the High School of Charleston and attended the College of Charleston He served his country as a member of the United States Marine Corps. He was employed by the Charleston Naval Shipyard where he retired in 1996. After a short retirement he enjoyed a second career in the insurance industry with the Jones Financial Group. Mr. Jones was active in St. Georges Episcopal Church in Summerville, SC for many years serving as one of the original twelve who gathered to found the mission. He is survived by his devoted wife of 52 years Elaine B. Jones, son Larry W. Jones, II and wife Lisa, daughter Melissa J. Verzaal, brothers Kenneth L. Jones and wife Sandra, The Rev. David M. Jones and wife Nan, sister Carol J. Gamble and husband Tommy, grand children Sydney A. Verzaal and Avery C. Verzaal, and many cousins, nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held Monday, November 19, 2012 at 1:30PM at the historic Christ Church Parish, Highway 17, Mt. Pleasant, SC with visitation and celebration following the service in the parish hall. Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association in SC, 44-A Markfield Drive, Charleston, SC 29407.
