Reid A Marmillion

August 23, 1952 — November 27, 2016

Reid Arthur Marmillion 64, passed away peacefully on November 27, 2016, surrounded by his loving family. Born August 23rd 1952, the oldest of 8 children, Reid was raised in upstate New York where he graduated high school at Newark Valley High. After graduation, he attended the Upstate Medical Center School of Respiratory Therapy in Syracuse NY, where he graduated in 1975. He had a long career in Respiratory Therapy, serving as a Clinical Respiratory Therapist & Department Assistant Director of Penrose Hospital in Colorado Springs, a Respiratory Therapist for Tioga County Health Department, and a Respiratory Therapist at MUSC. During his career he touched so many lives of patients and co-workers and left everlasting memories. With his chipper attitude, boisterous baritone voice, and animated personality he was a hard person to forget. As all his friends and family knew, he had a way of positively embellishing stories – and those stories will be told for years to come. Reid began a new life chapter when he met Valorie Zweifel in 1998. They settled in Mount Pleasant SC and in 2007 they married amongst family and friends. They had many amazing friends who were blessings to them as they both fought difficult medical battles. They enjoyed travelling, and spending time at the beach, but most of all spending time with their large family and grandchildren. A memorial service will be held 11:00, Tuesday December 6th at All Saints Lutheran Church with a reception after. Reid was survived by his children Mindyn, Megan, and Austin Marmillion, Shiela Matthiesen and Karen Zweifel; his grandchildren Gabriella, Cordin Marmillion and Maggie, Jack Matthiesen; his siblings Neal (Patricia), Mark (Tami), David (Mary Cay), James, Lois, and Mary Marmillion; and so many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews. He is preceded in death by his wife Valorie Marmillion, father Arthur Marmillion, mother Jean (Waterloo) Marmillion, and brother Paul Marmillion.
