Robert Gordon 'Bob' Fletcher

August 15, 1953 — July 26, 2016

Robert “Bob” G. Fletcher, 62, of Awendaw, passed away at his home on July 26, 2016, surrounded by his loving family. Bob was born to parents, Frank J. Fletcher and Mary H. Fletcher, in Stamford, CT, on August 15, 1953. He graduated from Bishop England High School and attended Clemson University. He married his wife Denise on August 9, 1974. He was very passionate about sailing in the Bahamas, Jimmy Buffet music, and building things—as he built their retirement spot in the country, on the water, where he could finally be the nudist he always wanted to be. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, son, brother and friend. He will be missed. Bob is preceded in death by his father, Frank J. Fletcher, his brother Michael G. Fletcher, and his grandson, Gibson Carlyle Flynn. Bob is survived by his wife of 42 years, Denise “Squeak” Fletcher of Awendaw; his daughter, Amy F. Flynn (Mark); his grandson, Fletcher C. Flynn; his mother, Mary H. Fletcher; his sister, Kathy Fletcher, all of Mt. Pleasant; and his foster daughter, Cinamon Kerr Bailey, of James Island. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. There will be a Memorial Service Tuesday, August 2, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at McAlister-Smith Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant. A “Celebration of Life” will be held at Gold Bug Island on Ben Sawyer Blvd., August 12, 2016 from 4-7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Charleston and/or Charleston Animal Society. The family of Bob Fletcher wishes to extend their sincere thanks to Hospice of Charleston with special thanks to Rebecca Sieracki and Genelle Harrison, who took excellent care of him.
