Rodney Van McGlade

July 6, 1960 — February 26, 2014

Rodney “Rocky” Van McGlade, 53, passed away peacefully at home after a valiant, but far too short, battle with brain cancer. He was surrounded by those who loved him. Rod/Rocky was an avid biker who was well loved and respected in the Charleston Biker community. He was a photojournalist, world traveller, retired SC Dept of Natural Resources Wildlife officer, former SC State Trooper, Marine. He will be missed by his wife Jaclyn McGlade, parents, sister and brother. Rod/Rocky’s passing will also be felt by his brothers and sisters in law as well as his nieces and nephews, aunts and cousins. During his illness he was surrounded by his family and friends, keeping his and their humor up and enjoying each and every person who came by to pass some time with him. Rod/Rocky was a member of the American Legion, Legion Riders and the Elks club. There will no be memorial service at Rod’s request, but please raise a glass in his memory. As he would say “Every day is a holiday and every meal is a feast”. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to either the National Brain Tumor Society or The Wounded Warrior Project. His journey continues…
