A memorial service to celebrate the life of Alan Gregory “Greg” Hollingsworth, 77, of Charleston, SC, will be held at 1:00pm, Saturday, January 10th, 2026 at McAlister-Smith Funeral Home, 2501 Bees Ferry Road.

Greg died Wednesday, December 24th, 2025. He was born in Chevery, Maryland, the son of late Donald and Sophie Hollingsworth. Greg graduated from the University of Maryland before serving in the U.S. Navy as an Officer aboard the USS Enterprise during the Vietnam War.

Following his return, he earned his M.B.A from George Mason University and moved to Charleston in 1988, where he worked as Vice President of Wealth Management for Smith Barney, Morgan Stanley, and UBS.

In his free time, Greg enjoyed spending time with friends and family, especially being a grandfather (“Poppi”).

Greg is survived by his wife of 43 years, Mary Buckingham Hollingsworth; children, Ashley Conlon (Thomas) of Mount Airy, MD, Andrew Hollingsworth (Karen) of Charlotte, NC, Meredith Hollingsworth of New York, NY, Clay Hollingsworth (Lauren) of Charleston, and Kate Kochel (Brad) of Toms Brook, VA; brother, Douglas Hollingsworth (Betsy) of Bangor, ME; and 12 grandchildren.
