Listen to Obituary

Ann Gould Rosen died peacefully with her family at her bedside on December 21, 2025 at the age of 83.

She was predeceased by her parents Charles and Adair Gould. She was a resident of Round O, SC where she lived with Barry, her husband of almost 56 years.

She is survived by her loving son David and loving daughter-in-law Fine. She and Barry recently moved to be closer to their two grandsons, Mavn and Pelenato whom she loved dearly. She was fortunate to see Nato and his wife Brianna before passing as they currently reside in Louisiana. She is also survived by her sister Alison Marthinson (Craig) of Toronto, Canada and Mary Ellen Kimble of Naples, Florida as well as her many nieces and nephews.

Ann was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania but spent most of her formative years in Wilmington, Delaware. She received a Bachelor’s Degree in Art History from the University of Delaware in 1970 and in 1975 she received a Master’s Degree in Librarianship from the University of South Carolina. She went on to be a professional librarian in both Richland and Lexington Counties in South Carolina. As she moved around the country, she also held positions in New Jersey and Florida before returning to South Carolina in 2000. She was the branch manager at the Bluffton Branch of the Beaufort County Library system for over 12 years. She took great pride that the Bluffton Branch was the most visited library in the entire system during her tenure.

Ann was involved in several activities in the many areas she traversed. She was particularly fond of having the privilege to serve as a board member to the ALS Association in Milwaukee, WI in honor of her late mother-in-law who had the disease. She addressed every task in her life with warmth, understanding and grace. Her husband called her the ultimate mensch (someone of noble character), and she was that to all who knew her.

For those who desire to honor her memory, the family is asking for donations to be sent to the University of Delaware or to the ALS Association:
