Barbara Marino Weaver, 94, of Mount Pleasant, SC, passed away peacefully at home on September 11, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Charleston on January 16, 1932, Barbara was the daughter of Joseph and Beatrice Flathmann Marino. Barbara grew up in downtown Charleston and attended Mitchell Elementary School and Memminger High School. She graduated as a Registered Nurse from MUSC in 1952 and went on to serve patients with skill and compassion at MUSC and Roper Hospital. She later spent many years as a beloved WIC nurse throughout the Charleston area, where her kindness and gentle manner left a lasting impact on countless families. She retired from nursing after a long and devoted career of caring for others.

In January 1956, three households of Barbara’s family moved from Charleston to the same block in The Groves neighborhood of Mount Pleasant. They included Barbara and her husband, Harold Weaver, and their son Hal; her sister Dolores, her husband Dick Riggs, and their son Ricky; and her parents, Joe and Beatrice Marino, and their son Joey. This close-knit family remained together there for decades, raising their children side by side and sharing the everyday moments of life that they all cherished. Barbara, Dolores, and Joe were inseparable—speaking every day and maintaining a lifelong bond filled with affection, loyalty, and harmony.

Barbara was known for her warm personality, love of dancing, and ability to make everyone she met feel appreciated and cared for. She was also fiercely protective of her children, never hesitating to stand up for them with the devotion of a true mother hen. She loved playing basketball when she was younger, and she became a dedicated Duke basketball supporter after her son Hal enrolled there. For decades afterward, she would often call him to make sure he knew whenever the Blue Devils were on television.

Barbara lived a long and joyful life centered on faith, family, and service. She was a devoted wife to her husband, Harold, for nearly 50 years; a loving mother to her three children; and a proud grandmother to her four grandchildren. A deeply religious Catholic, she carried her faith with quiet strength and placed her trust in God throughout her life. Above all, Barbara was a loving mother and the heart of her family. Her kindness, strength, faith, and love will live on in the many lives she touched. May her memory be a blessing, and may she rest peacefully in the loving arms of God.

Barbara was predeceased by her parents, Joseph and Beatrice Flathmann Marino, and her husband, Harold Weaver. She is survived by her sons, Hal (Debbie) and Jerry (Karen); her daughter, Lisa; her grandsons, Alex (Jayme), Eric (Anitha Menon), and Daniel; her granddaughter, Katie Justis (Aaron); her sister, Dolores Riggs (Dick Riggs, deceased); her brother, Joe Marino; her nephews, Jody (Brenda) and Leslie (Dene); and their offspring.

A private graveside remembrance will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to honor Barbara’s memory may make a contribution to a charity of their choice.
