Betty Kellough

Betty (Speakman) Kellough, 84, of North Charleston, S.C. passed away on June 11, 2024. Betty was born in Chillicothe, OH. on September 25, 1939 to Ovid and Bernice (Rutter) Speakman.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings Donnie, Roger, Keith, Judy Morris, and her daughter-in-law Rhonda Kellough.

Betty is survived by her children, Karen (Mark) Hankins, Roger jr. (Rona), Bruce, Joseph, James (Suzy) and Chad (Brandi) Kellough; 18 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; siblings Mike Speakman, Cyndi (Speakman) Clipse, and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

After moving to the Charleston area in the 1980's, Betty fell in love with the Low country and happily called it home for the remainder of her life. She loved the beaches, water, and natural beauty and serenity that is Charleston, but more than anything she loved its gracious and inviting people.

Betty spent a large part of her working career as a drug store manager, but found her true calling of being a nanny when she fell in love with the Bryant family (Colby, Benjamin, Victoria, and Tone Holmen).

Betty loved life and often enjoyed her favorite small pleasure, which was sitting on her front porch while enjoying a strong black coffee, or two, or three.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date by the family.
