Carol Anne Harken, 68 of Charleston, SC, passed away on Sunday January 28, 2024.
Born on August 8, 1955 in Charleston, SC, she was the daughter of Margaret Keane Harken and Robert Earl Harken.
Carol will be remembered for her kindness, love and wisdom. She graduated Bishop England High School, Class of 1973, after having been very active in the band. She began her working career with the North Charleston Police Department. She then went on to be a vital part of the CCEMS dispatch team before becoming a Paramedic, and later held various positions in local corporations. Carol had a special love for animals of all shapes and sizes. She was a devout Roman Catholic and served her community with both faith and friendship. Of her many accomplishments, she was most proud of her son, Ryan. She raised him with unending grace and joy and molded him into a man of great character. Carol was a true friend, who did not complain in the face of life's challenges. She brought her steady, loving presence as a gift to those who knew her, always asking about the lives of others in a way that made them feel loved. Carol was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Peggy and her brother Robert.
Carol is survived by her son Ryan Harken, nephews John, Bobby, William and her brother Freddy.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 on Monday, February 5th at The Church of the Nativity, 1061 Folly Rd in Charleston SC 29412, followed by the burial at Holy Cross Cemetery. All are invited to a reception after burial in Nativity Family Life Center.
