Chris O’Donnell, 50, originally a Philadelphian, but firmly and happily a transplant to Charleston South Carolina, passed away Monday August 10th, after a long and courageous battle with cancer, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and loyal fandom that could never be shaken. True to his character, he never gave up and fought until the very end.

Chris was, first and always, a family man. He was the most amazing husband to his wife, Jaime, and the proudest father “the GOAT of girl dads” to his three daughters, Reese, Addison, and Harper — his girls were the light of his life, and there wasn’t a moment he wasn’t cheering them on, whether from front row, sidelines or ringside to their hearts. He was a proud Boeing employee for his entire career joining the firm immediately after graduation. He was a beloved son to Linda and John O’Donnell and cherished son-in-law to Dr. Stephen and Eileen Swymer.

Chris was also blessed with an incredible circle of friends, from Dunes West and beyond, who filled his life with laughter, loyalty, and countless unforgettable memories. Whether it was cheering on his beloved Philadelphia Eagles any football Sunday complete with one of Jaime’s famous charcuterie boards, a day on the water cruising on “the Philly Special,” his favorite guy’s weekend of the year with his GOAT crew, or just showing up for one another, he was the nicest guy on the block. His friends knew Chris as a constant — someone who showed up to help anyone in need in a moment’s notice, made people smile with his belly laugh and always encouraged them (in his classic Delco Chris accent) - he made every gathering better just by being there. That friendship was returned tenfold, and his crew will carry his memory with them always. Chris was the friend everyone wanted, the dad everyone envied, and the husband who put everyone and everything first no matter what. He said often “Jaim and my girls are my world and the most important thing to me.” He was the best husband and father anyone could ever want.

He also was a beloved brother and brother-in-law and the best Uncle to so many nieces and nephews whose favorite moments include the numerous boat days, fire pits, Disney trips, 5am drop offs at the airport and always having everyone’s favorite snacks fully stocked in advance of arrival.

Outside of his family and friends, Chris’s heart belonged to a few great loves: the Philadelphia Eagles, who he supported with a die-hard devotion that never wavered the highs and lows of every season (but thoroughly enjoyed the two Superbowl wins he was able to witness live); the Phillies whose games he watched with the same unwavering hope. As a true Philadelphian, he loved Rocky and cheesesteaks and often quoted the film saying, “A fight ain't over till you heard the bell!" He kept fighting until the end.

Chris left this world too soon, but he leaves behind a family and friend group who adored him and a heart full of memories that will keep his spirit alive – on the water, in the stands, and in every retelling of his favorite Rocky lines or every time the Eagles fight song plays. As he loved to end any party with the tune “Closing Time” he chose to end his time surrounded with “all his beautiful ladies” by his side.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to everyone who cared for Chris and the family over the last two years, and their endless care and compassion shown during this time.

Services will be held at The Church at LifePark, 1151 George Browder Blvd., Mt Pleasant, SC 29466 on August 21, 2026 at 2pm.
