Dennis "Chuck" Dukes

With profound love, the family announces the loss of Dennis “Chuck” Dukes, age 45, who died in Charleston, SC, just one day before his 46th birthday.

A doting father and nurturing husband, Chuck is survived by his beloved wife, Jenn; and their daughters, Eva and Arabelle. He is also survived by his parents, Dennis and Christine Dukes; siblings, Apryl Dukes-McDaniel (Christopher), Amber Dukes, Curtis Dukes (Jenna), Anna Dukes-Delic (Amer); nieces and nephews, Cohen, Rhea, Rhett, Amelia, and Aiden, who will remember his steady support and playful spirit. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, John and Eva Edna Self and Perry and Mattie Dukes.

Family beach trips, mountain hikes, and his signature “tickle monster” routine with Eva and Arabelle brought him immense joy. He cherished gatherings with friends and was often the first to lend a hand or share a laugh. Chuck enjoyed a good sour beer, spicy paloma, live music, and exploring Charleston’s vibrant food scene. Whether building something with his hands or cheering on his loved ones, Chuck’s presence lit up every room.

Chuck was a dedicated attorney at Rogers, Patrick, Westbrook & Brickman (RPWB), where he fought tirelessly on behalf of individuals seeking justice. A native of North Carolina, he graduated magna cum laude from Charleston School of Law and earned his B.S. in Business Administration from UNC Wilmington. He joined RPWB as a summer law clerk and later became a respected advocate for personal injury, whistleblower, and class-action clients.

Guided by compassion and integrity, Chuck was known not just for his legal expertise but also for his warmth—someone who genuinely cared about doing good for others every day. He was a loyal brother, lifelong friend, and community-minded soul. His generosity and sense of humor left a lasting impact on everyone fortunate enough to know him.

A Celebration of Life in Chuck’s honor will be held Friday, August 22nd at 2:00 PM at the Church of Our Saviour, 4416 Betsy Kerrison Pkwy, Johns Island, SC 29455. His daughters ask that guests wear his favorite color, blue.

May his memory be a joy and his legacy a source of kindness: always giving, always caring and always Chuck.
