Dominic Miglionico, known to most as Dom or “Mig,” born February 13, 1943, in Newark, NJ, passed away on June 5, 2024. He was 81 years old.
Dom was born in Newark, NJ, grew up in Woodbridge, NJ, and spent the rest of his life moving around with military and civilian government service, dedicating his life to serving his country. He retired in 1980 as a Master Sergeant after 20 years in the United States Air Force. His military career was marked by dedication, honor, and a steadfast commitment to his comrades and his nation. Among his many experiences, he was most excited about his time as an aviator in the storied, clandestine unit known as the "Berlin for Lunch Bunch."
Following his retirement from the Air Force, Dom continued his service as an Air Force civilian employee at the Pentagon. His work there further demonstrated his dedication to his country and his exceptional expertise.
He lived and loved to serve. While working as a civil servant in Virginia, he also served as a volunteer paramedic and as the Chief of the OWL Volunteer Fire Department, reflecting his commitment to helping others.
Upon retirement, Dom and his beloved wife, Mary Josephine Miglionico, moved to her home state, New Mexico. Their marriage was a testament to love and partnership, and their bond remained strong throughout the years until Mary’s passing.
After Mom passed, Dad moved to Arizona then eventually settled in Aiken, SC, where he lived a quiet and fulfilling life. He was a man of integrity, resilience, and patience, deeply admired by his family and friends.
Dom is survived by his four sons: Dominic, Kenneth, Robert, and Joseph, who will remember him as a loving and devoted father and a true patriot. He also leaves behind his brother Kenneth, sister Gloria, nine grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. His legacy of strength, kindness, and support for those he loved will live on through them.
A memorial service will be planned in the near future to honor his life and legacy. At a later date, Dom’s and Mary’s remains will be inurned together at Arlington National Cemetery.
Dom will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His life was a beacon of service, love, and dedication, and his memory will forever remain in our hearts.
