Douglas R. Bryant, Jr., 92, passed away peacefully on July 5, 2025. Born on January 12, 1933, in Salisbury, North Carolina, Doug was the beloved son of the late Douglas R. Bryant, Sr., and Frances McCorkle Bryant. He spent much of his life in Orangeburg, South Carolina, before later making his home in Folly Beach, South Carolina.
Doug graduated from the University of South Carolina, launching a successful professional path that began with a long tenure at Orangeburg Furniture Exchange. Following early retirement, he embraced a second career by establishing Folly Road Furniture, pursuing his entrepreneurial spirit with enthusiasm. Doug lived life with a youthful, adventurous spirit, enjoying extensive travels and maintaining a healthy lifestyle. His interests included real estate investing and a keen curiosity for the stock market.
Doug shared an extraordinary love story with his wife, Peggy Jeffcoat Bryant. High school sweethearts and soulmates, they married on November 8, 1952, and together built a family filled with love and devotion that spanned generations.
Doug is survived by his cherished wife of more than 72 years, Peggy, and their children: Douglas R. Bryant, III (Jennie), Elizabeth Bryant Mixon (Mike), and Sydney Bryant Powell (Jimmy). He was grandfather to seven grandchildren and great-grandfather to ten great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother, Alexander M. Bryant (Caroline).
Doug’s memory will live on through the many lives he touched with his kindness, wisdom, and sense of adventure.
