Douglas was born in Charleston, SC on August 8, 1942, the son of Joseph C. and Ollie Raines Henderson.
Douglas owned Henderson Construction and was an expert drywall contractor. He was a fun loving man, who loved his family, fishing, hunting and any outdoor activities.
Douglas is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Dorothy H. Willis, and his brothers, Joseph and James Allen Henderson.
Douglas is survived by his wife of 43 years, Virginia B. Henderson; children, Deborah S. Sweeny and husband, Emmett of Raleigh, NC, David G. Kennedy of Cross, SC, John C. Kennedy and wife Alison of Mt. Pleasant, SC, and Kathryn Henderson of Maryland; grandchildren, Ashlee Skinner and husband, David, Eliza G. Kennedy, Anna C. Kennedy, Wyatt G. Kennedy, Dale Sweeny; great-grandchildren, Briar Sweeny, Bennett, Charlee, and Emmy Skinner; brother, Charles Lewis Henderson of Mt. Pleasant, SC.
The service will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, March 14, 2024 at St. Andrews's Church, 440 Whilden Street, in Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina. The burial will be held at Christ Episcopal Church, 2304 N. Hwy 17, Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Wounded Warriors or St. Jude Childrens Hospital.
