Elease Adams Pickens, 89, passed away peacefully on April 30, 2026, in Charleston, South Carolina. She was born on November 19, 1936, in Anderson County, South Carolina.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Knox and Ina Adams; her devoted husband of 40 years, Marion Travis Pickens (“Pick”); and her brothers, John, Howard, and David Adams.
She is survived by her children, Wayne Pickens (Kathy) and Teresa Pickens (John); her siblings, Linda, Penny, and Donnie; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Elease enjoyed a successful career with Rose’s Department Stores, where she served as a manager for many years. During her time there, she formed many lastingfriendships and was respected and admired by both colleagues and employees.
A lover of nature, Elease found joy outdoors and especially cherished time spent near the water. She spent countless hours walking the wooded trails of Aiken, appreciating the beauty of the natural world.
Following her retirement, she pursued her passion for historic homes and antiques by restoring a charming historic house in Charleston. She lived there for more than twenty years, creating treasured memories, collecting stories, and welcoming family and friends into a home filled with warmth and character.
Elease lived life to the fullest and welcomed each new chapter as an adventure. A cherished friend and mentor to many, she inspired others with her curiosity, resilience, and zest for life. Her adventurous spirit, generous heart, and enduring friendship will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to a charity of your choice in Elease’s honor.
