Erma "Sue" Riley (1933- 2026)

It is with great sorrow and heartfelt gratitude that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Erma "Sue" Riley, on July 13, 2026. She died peacefully at home, at the age of 92, surrounded by her family.

Born November 11,1933 in Hamilton, Ohio, Sue graduated from Hamilton High School and met and married her high school sweetheart, Manford Riley. As an only child, she always wished for a large family. She started that family with four rambunctious children, who adored her. With an open heart and open arms, Sue was totally devoted to her family, making every holiday, birthday, and even ordinary days special. She was also our solid supporter and our soft place to fall. In addition to caring for her family, Sue continued on to work at Lake Park Elementary in Albany, Georgia, and then for the United Way, expanding her caring nature to serve her community. She was also a founding member of the Mended Heart Society, an avid bridge player, a longtime member of the Methodist Church, and had been a steadfast friend to many. In her later years, Sue moved to Lexington, South Carolina, where she was cared for by her loving daughter, Lori.

Sue was preceded in death by her parents, Ruby and Elmer "Bud" Stacey and is survived by her loving husband, Manford Riley, her four children, Deborah Turner, Doug Riley (Patty), Daniel Riley (Yuri), and Lori Jacobs (John), her ten grandchildren Alan Turner (Gracie), Brad Turner, Ryan Turner (Cristal), Turner Riley, Rebecca Riley, Shannon Riley, Connor Riley, Harper Riley, and Ross Jacobs and Carson Jacobs, and her four great grandchildren Aubree Turner, Zoe Turner, Brice Turner and Ava Turner.

Sue's celebration of life is TBD. Anyone wishing to donate in her name can do so by donating to the United Way or the American Cancer Society.

It is said that your mother teaches you how to love. Every member of the large family that Sue always prayed for has been blessed with a magnificent example. She will be fondly remembered and sorely missed.
