Eugen Kiefel unexpectedly passed away peacefully in his sleep on June 7, 2026, at the age of 64.

He led a very interesting life, a life of opportunities made possible by his dedicated 46-year career as an Installation Site Leader at Kuka Systems. His work allowed him to follow his greatest passion, traveling, giving him the opportunity to live in and visit many countries.

Eugen always referred to himself as a citizen of the world. His life journey began in Syktyvkar, Russia, on April 15, 1962, to parents Michael Kiefel (passed 2012) and Ida Kiefel (passed 2024). He moved to Germany in his teens, and eventually his work led him to travel throughout Europe, North America, and South America. Eugen was a cultural chameleon, his travels shaping his identity and helping him become a true Renaissance man.

During his time in Europe, he became both a collector and an artist. One of his passions was collecting antique clocks, spending many evenings tinkering away at the kitchen table restoring them. He traveled extensively throughout Europe and lived in the Czech Republic, Germany, and Spain. His time in Spain turned him into quite the foodie, and he loved trying and cooking new cuisines.

When his career brought him to the United States, it was a dream come true, as he had always held a deep love for American 1950s rock-and-roll culture and the beauty of the American countryside. He spent many years living in South Carolina, hiking through the mountains of the Upstate and swimming in the ocean at Edisto Beach.

Eventually, his path led him to Mexico, where he found his spirit in the arid deserts, beautiful beaches, and rich ancient culture. This sparked an interest that led him to travel extensively throughout South America and climb Machu Picchu. During his travels, he collected many Native American, Aztec, and Mexican artifacts, jewelry, and pottery.

Eugen was a dreamer of many grand plans and adventures that, unfortunately, he never got to live out. The world is a smaller place without him in it.

He was a beloved father, grandfather, uncle, brother, and friend. His legacy is honored by his children, David, Daniel, and Nina Kiefel, and his grandchildren, Anna and Victoria Kiefel.
