Hans D Matthies, 75, of Charleston passed away Wednesday, June 26, 2019 at 10:16pm at Trident Hospital, from complications from congestive heart failure.
Hans was born on July 20, 1943 in Hamburg, Germany. He was a graduate of Irvington High School. Upon graduation he joined the US Navy where he later retired. He loved his grandchildren Patricia, Jamison, Victoria and Adelai and enjoyed watching them.
Surviving are his three chidren, Steven, Naysha and Aaron. He was known as a great man, a tough leader and protector of his family. Hans enjoyed exercising, taking care of others, and watching his Carolina Panthers play football.
We can no longer see you with our eyes but will feel you in our hearts forever.
The family will have a private service at a later date.
