Listen to Obituary

James Walter Green “Jimmy”, age 77, entered into eternal rest on November 08, 2025.

Jimmy was born and raised on Wadmalaw Island. He was the son of the late Thelma Crosby Green and the lateJames Green.

Jimmy graduated from St. John’s High School in 1966. After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Coast Guard. He served for 4 years and was a Viet Nam Veteran. When he returned home from the service he bought his first shrimp boat. He continued to shrimp for over 20 years.

Later Jimmy ran East Coast Seafood Company for many years. He sold shrimp and fish directly from the shrimp boats to the public. Everyone enjoyed coming to hear Jimmy’s stories as much as they enjoyed the seafood that they bought. He also enjoyed repairing and maintaining outboard boats and motors, especially offering advice to those who wanted to learn to do it themselves. He was loved and respected by all who knew him. He never met a stranger.

Jimmy was predeceased by his son, James Walter Green, Jr. who died in 2016.

Jimmy is survived by his wife, Linda Green, of Wadmalaw Island. They had been married for over 50 years. He is survived by his grandsons, James Miley Green and William Chase Green. Jimmy is also survived by his 3 sisters, Virginia Likes, Frances Hamilton (Harold), and Edna Copeman (John). He is survived by multiple nieces and nephews.

Jimmy’s ashes will be scattered in a private ceremony, on Saturday, November 29, 2025 at 2 PM.

In lieu of flowers, donation can be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
