James Franklin Senn

James Franklin Senn, 67, formerly of West Columbia, South Carolina, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, after a courageous battle with prolonged illnesses.

Born on February 3, 1959, in Columbia, South Carolina, James was the son of the late Calvin Eston Senn and Revola Belle Hicks Dominguez.

He was also preceded in death by his beloved grandparents, Carl Eston and Gussie Wilson Senn, and his sister, Jacqueline Lavonne “Jackie” Senn. James is survived by his devoted wife of 34 years, Jean Thornton Senn; and a daughter, Sarah Senn Cruz (Victor) of Georgia; and grandchildren, Camila Dulce Cruz, Alexander Hiram Cruz, and Xochitl Estalia Cruz. He is also survived by his sisters, Janice Senn Latoza (Richard) of Woodstock, Georgia, Carla Senn Coon of Trenton, South Carolina, and Jo Anna Stutheit Castillo of Las Vegas, Nevada; along with seven cherished nieces and nephews, many cousins, extended family members, and dear friends who will forever hold his memory close.

James graduated from Spring Valley High School with the Class of 1977 and continued his education through work-related studies at Midlands Technical College. He believed in working hard, learning continuously, and taking pride in every task he undertook.His career with PepsiCo began in 1975 as a part-time employee while still in high school. Over the next 34 years, James built a career marked by dedication, dependability, and hard work. He served in a variety of roles, including Warehouse Foreman in Orangeburg, South Carolina, before transferring to the Leaphart Road facility, where he worked as a Vending Technician and Service Technician. He earned the respect of his coworkers through his strong work ethic and willingness to lend a helping hand.

A man of Methodist faith, James lived a life grounded in humility, kindness, and quiet strength. He found joy in spending time with those he loved and appreciated life’s simple blessings. During his final months, his faithful companion cats, Sherlock and Sugar Cat, brought him comfort and unwavering companionship.

James will be remembered for his generous heart, steadfast character, and the love he shared with his family and friends. His legacy of faith, perseverance, and devotion to those he loved will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

A Homecoming Celebration honoring James’s life was held on Monday, July 20, 2026, at the Senn family homeplace in West Columbia.

The family wishes to thank the staff and management of Three Oaks Hospice for their compassion and exemplary care of James in his final days.
