John Franklin Brock peacefully passed away on November 9, 2025, surrounded by his family, with whom he had been living.
He leaves behind his devoted wife of 62 years, Betty Garren; his beloved son and lifelong friend, John Garren (Jennifer); and five cherished granddaughters - Anna Miller (Bryson), Bethany, Elaina, Faith, and Grace Brock.
John grew up in downtown Columbia. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corps before beginning a long career with the United States Postal Service, from which he later retired.
He delighted in watching his son grow into the man he is today and took profound joy in every moment with his granddaughters - whether cheering them on from home, laughing at their stories, or simply sharing a smile. The last 15 months of his life were spent in the loving care of his son and family in Chapin, South Carolina.
He was predeceased by his parents, John Moses Brock and Nell Moody Brock, and by his sisters, Virginia Brock Bradham and Mary Brock Farr. He is survived by his loving sister, Julie Brock.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Interim Healthcare and Hospice for their compassionate care, support, and guidance over the past nine months.
A visitation will be held at the Brock home in the coming weeks. Details will be shared with family and friends.
