John Albert Jarvis passed away peacefully on July 6, 2026, at the age of 65 in Summerville, SC.
Born in Santiago, Chile, August 26, 1960, John was adopted as an infant by Isaac “Ike” and Doris Jarvis. He spent his childhood years in Peru before moving to the United States and later spent several years living in Indonesia.
John discovered his passion for the culinary arts and graduated from the Culinary Institute of America in 1996. He proudly served 22 years in the United States Coast Guard as a professional chef.
Following his military service, John continued sharing his love of cooking by opening J&S Catering and Event Planners where he created delicious meals and lasting memories for many special occasions. He especially enjoyed cooking for the church family at Thalia Baptist Church.
Later in life, after building his home, John developed a love for gardening. He enjoyed spending time outdoors, caring for his flowers, and taking pride in the beauty of his yard and home.
John was preceded in death by his father Isaac “Ike” Jarvis and sister Lynette Stumpe.
He is survived by his wife Sarah Jarvis, his mother Doris Jarvis, his children John Moran (Sri), Sean (Margaritta), Christopher, Jennifer, Sydney, & Jordan (Dominic) and his stepchildren Alex, Taylor, Mariah (Trey), Megan, & ten grandchildren. He will be forever remembered and deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
A memorial service, followed by a gathering for refreshments, will be held at:
