John Gary Mayser, resident of Saint George, South Carolina, passed away on February 20, 2025 at the age of 83.

John was born in Teaneck, New Jersey to William and Mildred Mayser (nee Yunginger), on January 20th, 1942.

He loved being outdoors, he loved to ride his motorcycle, he loved to go hiking and being out on his boat with family and friends. Years ago he also enjoyed snow skiing and snowmobiling.

His favorite places to go boating were out on Lake George in NY State, the Hudson River or out on Smith Mountain Lake in VA, where he had a lake house for over 30 years. John also loved animals, especially dogs. His best companion was his pup Sadie Mae, she was a Border Collie mix rescue and she lived to be two months shy of 17! He took her everywhere he went, she even loved the boat. He also loved his daughters, dogs and his niece's cats and every pup he met. He loved to tell a good joke, being with family and friends, and was always kind to everyone he met.

John graduated from Dwight Morrow High School, in Englewood NJ. He worked for the Bell Telephone Company (then Verizon) for 39 years and when he retired, he moved from New Jersey to his lake house on Smith Mountain Lake in VA. He lived in VA until he moved to South Carolina to be closer to his daughter.

He was predeceased by his beloved parents, his brother Alan, his nephews Billy and Alan Jr.

He is survived by his beloved daughter, Jennifer, his brother William (Beverly), his Sister-In-Law Wendy, his two nieces Darlene Mayser and Kristen Frey and his two great-nephews, Cooper and Ahren Mayser.

There is a plan for a celebration of life at a later date in New Jersey.
