In Loving Memory of John Pateracki III
John Pateracki III passed away on October 2nd, 2025 surrounded by his immediate family.
John was the oldest of ten siblings and proudly carried on the Pateracki name. From a young age, he had a gift for fixing just about anything and finding joy in helping others.
In 1990 John met the love of his life, Tina. They married on Valentine's Day and built a beautiful life together filled with family, projects to finish, and love.
John's work over the years was as varied as his interests. Before retirement, he earned his master's in library sciences and worked with children at Red Cedar Elementary. He had a special way with people, especially children, and was known in the school community as "Mr. P."
To his family, he was Papa John - a husband, father, grandfather, and friend who could fix anything and make everyone feel loved.
He is survived by his wife, Christine (Tina), his children, Caroline Jones and husband Lewis, John (Jack) Pateracki IV and his wife Catherine, his grandson, Harley Jones, and his foster grandchildren, as well as many brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, and friends who will miss him dearly.
A mass will be held on December 2nd, 2025 @ 9:30am at St. John's Catholic Church in North Charleston. A Celebration of Life will follow at Holy City Brewing in North Charleston.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Charleston Bilingual Academy Building Fund or The Stained Glass Association of America in John's honor.
John's life was a reminder that kindness matters, laughter heals, and love is the greatest legacy of all.
