John Haskell Wall

John Haskell Wall, 72, passed away peacefully on August 4, 2026, surrounded by his loved ones and listening to Bob Dylan.

Born on November 17, 1953, in Columbia, South Carolina, John was the beloved son of William Edgar Wall and Sarah Hinnant Wall. He grew up on a farm across the highway from his grandparents in the Cedar Creek community, and he moved to Forest Acres at age 6. He attended A.C. Flora High School where he was a natural athlete who excelled in baseball, basketball, and golf. He later continued his education at the University of South Carolina. During his time at school, John made many lifelong friendships. A devoted Gamecock, John could often be found sporting his Carolina gear with pride. He loved a good football or basketball game and never missed a chance to cheer on the Gamecocks.

On July 3, 1993, John married the love of his life, Sheryl "Shea" Williams Wall. They shared more than 30 years of love, laughter, live music, and countless memories. Together, they attended more concerts than could ever be counted. Their love of music became a special part of their beautiful life together. Throughout their marriage, John and Shea rarely called each other by their given names. Instead, they affectionately called each other "Husband" and "Wife," the titles they felt most honored to give one another.

That same warmth carried into every part of John's life. His outgoing personality and gift for connecting with others made real estate a natural fit. Yet it was the relationships he built, the music he loved, and the memories he created with family and friends that truly defined his life.

Above all else, John cherished his family-especially his grandchildren, who lovingly called him "JoJo"-and the many friends who became family over the years. He always found a way to make his loved ones smile-sending funny dog videos, singing at the top of his lungs on a car ride, stopping by with a surprise pint of ice cream, or even trying out the slip-n-slide with his grandkids. He was a kid at heart, and he made sure everyone around him felt joy.

One of the most special things about John was that he never met a stranger. He had a remarkable ability to make everyone feel welcome. His infectious laugh, generous heart, and larger-than-life personality made him the life of every gathering and brought him friendships that lasted a lifetime.

John found happiness in life's simple pleasures-being surrounded by family and friends, listening to great music, and creating memories with the people who meant the most to him. Those closest to him will forever remember one of his favorite expressions, "LOVE YOU BUNCHES." These three simple words perfectly reflect the way he lived-with kindness, warmth, generosity, and unconditional love.

John is survived by his beloved wife, Sheryl "Shea" Williams Wall; his children, Chevis Smith Fogarty (Marc) and Taylor Smith Gepper (John); his cherished grandchildren, Madison Gepper, Ryanne Fogarty, TaylorAnne Fogarty, and Davis Gepper; his brother and sister-in-law, Dr. William "Bill" Wall and Laura Wall; his nieces, Michel Williams (Eldon Thomas), Janette Wall (Cade Kaufmann), and Dr. Savannah Wall; his nephews, Ben Hiott and Mark Hiott; his great-nephew, Lawrence Kaufmann; and his beloved Springer Spaniel, Sadie Mae.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William Edgar Wall and Sarah Hinnant Wall; his beloved aunt and uncle, Harry and Ruth Brown; his brother-and-sister-in-law, Horace "Win" Williams and Dr. Suzanne Williams; and his faithful dog, Jazz.

John's legacy is one of love, laughter, friendship, and music. He will be remembered for the joy he brought to every room, the friendships he treasured, the unwavering love he had for his family, and the countless memories he created with those fortunate enough to know him. Though he will be deeply missed, his spirit will live on in every Gamecock victory, every Beatles or Bob Dylan song, every gathering filled with laughter, and every heartfelt reminder to simply say, "LOVE YOU BUNCHES."
