McTavish, Johne Buddington, 85, of Charleston a Homemaker and wife to John McTavish, died March 12, 2018. Arrangements by Palmetto Cremation Society
Johne B. McTavish died peacefully at home on March 12, 2018. She was born on February 28, 1933 to Grace B. and A. John Thornberry, both now deceased. She grew up in Kansas City, Missouri. On June 6, 1959 she married John E. McTavish, her husband of 58 years. She had many volunteer jobs wherever she lived, as well as a career as a professional harpist, librarian, and technical analyst for a commodity brokerage firm. In later years she was devoted to studying tai chi and taught classes on the subject in the community where she lived. Her primary energies and love were devoted to her husband and her children.
She is survived by her husband John, and her three children Catherine G. Strubing (David J.), Hugh McTavish, and Martha T. McTavish, as well as her two grandchildren Sarah G. Strubing and David M. Strubing. Her sister Ann Thornberry Dodderidge and her three nephews also survive her.
A service will be held at the Chapel of Bishop Gadsden on Saturday, March 17 at 10:30a.m., followed by a reception in Blackmer Hall.
