Sybil Josephine (Jo) Trout

Mt. Pleasant - Sybil Josephine (Jo) Trout died May 30th 2023, after a long illness. She was 88 years old and predeceased by her husband of 46 years, Oliver Trout Jr., her daughter Joan E. Trout, and her son Steven E. Trout. Jo is survived by her five children, Diane Shults (Coy Quakenbush), Timothy Trout, Susan Kinard, Mark Trout, and Julia Trout. She is also survived by her granddaughters, Amber Shirley (David Shirley), Sarah Oliver (Greg Oliver), Eleonore Shults, Hannah Kinard, and three great grandchildren, Lillian Oliver, Molly Shirley, and Rosco Kinard. Jo is survived by her special friend, Ed Cady.

Jo Trout was born in Spartanburg, South Carolina to Thelma and Olin Page. After raising her children while being stationed on several bases, Oliver and Jo retired and settled in their beloved home on the Isle of Palms. Jo was a devout Christian and served for many years at both the Isle of Palms Baptist and Sullivan's Baptist Churches as an active member and Children's Sunday School Teacher . Before her own professional retirement, "Mrs. Trout" further served more children's development though her Food Service Management Position for the Charleston County School District.

Her interests included cooking, especially for her family, along with gardening and travel. She was an avid magazine reader and loved traveling with her family. Her favorite travels included closer to home locations at Boone, North Carolina and the surrounding mountains of South and North Carolina.

Please join us for a celebration of her life on Wednesday, June 7th 2023, at 1:00 pm at Sullivan's Island Baptist Church, 1753 Central Ave, Sullivan's Island, SC 29482. Family will receive friends one hour prior to service.
