June Allison Fried

June Allison Fried, 74, of Charleston passed away Tuesday, July 7, 2026.

June was born on June 7, 1952, in Spartanburg, S.C., to the late Clara Ann Quinn Allison and Claude Allison.

June received degrees from the College of Charleston and the Medical University of South Carolina. She pursued a fulfilling career conducting and supervising medical laboratory work related to blood, bone marrow, and transplant research and compliance.

Over the years, work and family saw her move from Spartanburg and Charleston to Cleveland, Ohio; and Atlanta, Ga., before she returned to South Carolina. Wherever she found herself, June maintained a comfortable home to welcome family and friends, and was ready to get her hands dirty in the garden or find the perfect new addition at her favorite stores.

June is survived by her son Jonathan Fried (Lindsay) and daughter Melissa Spence (Sam) of Charleston, and her sister, Ann Allison Ballenger, of Spartanburg. June was fortunate to love three grandsons, Bradley Fried (7), Daniel Fried (5), and Gene Spence (5 months). She was predeceased by her brother, Claude Michael ("Mike") Allison.

The Lord moved throughout June's life, from her 1963 baptism in Inman, S.C., to her 1990 confirmation into the Episcopal Church of the Advent in Spartanburg. Loved ones take comfort that the peace she found through Jesus remains with her in eternal life.
