KC Stecker

October 3, 1962 — April 10, 2024

Summerville

Kurt Charles "KC" Stecker, 61 of Summerville, South Carolina, passed away on April 10, 2024, in the loving presence of his family after fighting a courageous 18-month-long battle with stage IV lung cancer.

Born on October 3, 1962 in Milwaukee, WI, KC was the firstborn son of Jeannine and Carl Stecker. They later moved to Plover, WI where KC made lifelong friendships with his SPASH classmates. In 1980 he was given a full-ride scholarship to the University of Wisconsin-Madison as an Evans Scholar, where even more lifelong friendships would begin. In 1984 he met his future wife Regina while they were both students. They were married in 1991 and settled down in Cartersville, GA, where they had two children: a son, Sean, and a daughter, Michelle. In 2018 KC and Regina moved to Summerville, SC to be closer to the beach in preparation for their sunset years.

KC was a loving husband, a wonderful father and the life of the party. He loved to make people laugh and always had a smile on his face. He could spark up a conversation with anyone and had a very eclectic taste in music allowing him to jam with almost anyone. He was an avid golfer, a hardcore Wisconsin Badgers, Atlanta Falcons & Atlanta Braves fan, and more recently a tifosi for the Ferrari F1 team. Many Saturdays and Sundays were spent teaching and watching sports with his kids, either on the TV at home, in a sports bar, or at the stadiums. He loved the beach and vacationing in Florida every year with his family.

KC was a natural salesman and had an incredible work ethic. He was involved with the marble and stone industry for nearly 30 years where he was a business owner, sales representative and branch manager over that time. He won multiple awards for his contributions and always strived to make his customers happy. Anyone who called him knew he was going to treat them fairly as soon as they heard "This is KC!" when he answered the phone.

After his diagnosis in October 2022, KC made it a point to live his life to the fullest. He turned to Facebook to chronicle his journey and received an immense amount of love and support. He read every comment and every message of encouragement, which gave him so much strength to fight. 2023 was a blessing of a year where he was able to enjoy one last family vacation in Florida, one last trip to Newport, RI with his wife Regina, one last trip to Wisconsin visiting all of his friends with his son Sean, and one last trip to New Jersey with his daughter Michelle.

KC is survived by Regina Stecker (Wife), Jeannine Stecker (Mother), Carl Stecker (Father), Mark Stecker (Brother), Michelle Stecker (Daughter), Sean Stecker (Son) and Tatiana Posada (Daughter-In-Law).

The family will receive friends in South Carolina for a Celebration of Life on April 27, 2024, from 1:00PM - 3:00PM at Holy City Brewing, 1021 Aragon Ave, North Charleston, SC. More information can be found here: https://bit.ly/kc-stecker-celebrations
