Linda (Weimer) Gard, age 80, passed away on April 24, 2023.
Linda was born in Shamokin, PA to George (Teddy) Weimer and Mable (Irene) Patrick- Weimer. Linda married Morris Gard Jr. of Kulpmont, PA on November 18, 1967 in Shamokin, PA .
Linda was preceded in death by her parents, and her sister and brother-in-law Nancy and Bert Edmunds. Her brother-in-law Joe and wife Kathy, sister-in-law Anna Marie Voloshin and husband John and brother-in-law, Chet Gard.
Linda began her working career after graduating from Shamokin High School in 1960. She worked in secretary/financial roles at various places, to include Shroyers, local garment factories, H&R Block, Shamokin high school, and lastly Knoebels Amusement Resort for 22 years, where she made many friends and memories. Linda spent many years as the secretary/treasurer for the First Presbyterian Church in Shamokin, where she was also an active member of the Board of Deacons, the choir, The Pep Club, and various other committees. She also served as a Brownie Troop Leader.
Linda cherished the times spent with family. Everybody knew they were always welcome at their N. Cherry St. Home where she lived from birth until 2015 when she and Morris moved to Mount Pleasant, SC to be near their daughter Melissa and her family. There was nothing she loved more than having her Shamokin home full of family and friends.
Linda loved her vacations at the beach, Niagara Falls, Ormond Beach Florida, Disney World, countless bus trips and taking her grandchildren to Knoebels. She played cards with her friends in a pinochle club from her early days until leaving Shamokin in 2015
Linda is survived by and will be missed dearly by her husband Morris, her daughter Melissa Munsell and her children Abbylee and Madelyn June, of Mount Pleasant, SC, her daughter Melanie Jessop, husband Ian and daughter Hayden of Frederick, MD; brother and sister-in-law Nick and Shirley Gard of Kulpmont, PA and sister-in-law Ann Gard of Harrisburg PA. Many nieces and nephews and great nieces, nephews, and many friends.
A celebration will be held in PA, details forthcoming.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimers Association at act.alz.org or in honor of Madelyn Munsell to the Carolina Childrens Charity at carolinachildren.org.
