Linda Sue Jones

Linda Sue Jones passed peacefully late in the evening of August 23, 2026, with her loving daughter, Ellen Dukes, by her side.

Linda was born on November 28, 1945, in Rock Hill, South Carolina, but her heart belonged to her home on Rivelon Road in Orangeburg. It was there that she made a life filled with family, memories, and the animals she loved so dearly.

Linda was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Jones; her beloved daughters, Carlene Hair and Sandra Jones; and her grandson, Andrew Vanburen. Her family takes comfort in believing that after her peaceful departure from this life, Linda was reunited with those she had loved and missed for so long.

She leaves behind her children, Ellen Dukes, Randall Jones, and Larry Jones; her grandson, Matthew Vanburen, and his wife, Valerie; her sisters, Brenda Binnicker, Wanda Taylor, and Kay Seegars; and other grandchildren, relatives, and loved ones whose lives were made better simply by having Linda in them.

Anyone who truly knew Linda knew about her enormous love for dogs. Over the years, she gave her heart and a home to many puppies, loving each one as part of her family. Among them was her precious Tia, who held an especially dear place in her heart. Linda's compassion for animals reflected the way she lived her life—when she loved, she loved with her whole heart.

That same big heart extended to the people around her. Linda will be remembered for the love she gave freely to her family and to those fortunate enough to become part of her life.

Her final moments were peaceful. Surrounded by love, Linda received prayers and a blessing from her family's church before her passing. Her family is deeply grateful that she was able to leave this world with her daughter beside her, covered in prayer and knowing she was loved.

Linda's family will honor her life privately with an intimate family service.

In keeping with Linda's lifelong love and compassion for animals, the family asks that anyone wishing to honor her memory consider making a donation to an animal shelter, rescue organization, or program that provides food and care for animals in need. Helping an animal in Linda's name would be a beautiful way to remember a woman whose heart always had room for one more puppy.

May every animal helped in her memory carry forward a little piece of the love Linda gave so freely during her life.

She was deeply loved, she will be deeply missed, and she will never be forgotten.
