Mary Elizabeth Thornton, 52, of Charleston, SC, passed away at her home on September, 20, 2020.
Born on March 29, 1968 in Columbia, SC, she was a daughter of William Jerry and the late Elizabeth (Dennis) Jerry. She was a graduate of Hammond School and the University of South Carolina where she received a degree in Art History. After college, Mary Elizabeth married Thomas Thornton and they moved to Charleston. They welcomed their daughter, Olivia in 2003.
Mary Elizabeth had many talents from her beautiful voice and gentle touch on the piano to her incredible flower boxes that could be seen adorning several restaurants in Charleston. She loved the natural beauty of all living things and deliberately took the time to appreciate them. Nothing compared however, to the love she had for Thomas and Olivia. Together, they created a life full of joy and laughter.
She is survived by her husband Thomas and daughter Olivia both of Charleston; her father Bill Jerry, brother Andy Jerry (Leslie), sister Christine Pool (Rick), niece Grayson Pool, and nephew James Pool all of Columbia. She was predeceased by her mother, Elizabeth (Dennis) Jerry.
A celebration of her life will be held at a later date at the family home in Charleston. In lieu of flowers, donations, in Mary Elizabeth’s memory, may be made to the Colon Cancer Foundation or a charity of one’s choice.
