Melissa Ann Meiner, 53, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 31, 2026, in Charleston, South Carolina, with her daughters by her side. She was a devoted mother, a California native, and a beautiful soul whose kindness and faith touched countless lives.
Melissa spent many years pursuing her creative passions as a bridal makeup artist and hairstylist. She also built a successful career in retail management, overseeing stores on both the East and West coasts. Her dedication, warmth and natural ability to connect with others left a lasting impression on colleagues, clients and friends alike.
Above all, Melissa’s faith was the foundation of her life. A devoted Christian, she loved Jesus deeply and spent much of her time worshipping, sharing His word, and encouraging others in their faith. She also enjoyed music, writing, and spending time at the beach, her happy place.
Melissa’s greatest pride and joy were her two daughters, Makayla Harrison and Devon Adams, whom she cherished beyond measure and spoke of often with immense love.
To know Melissa was to love her. She would give the shirt off her back to help someone in need and was always ready with encouragement, support, or a listening ear. Her quick wit, contagious laugh, and natural leadership drew people to her. Melissa danced to the beat of her own drum, embracing life with authenticity, generosity, and grace. Her vibrant spirit will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Melissa is survived by her father, Donald Meiner and his wife, Cheryl; her mother, Carole (Sternard) Meiner; her daughters, Makayla Harrison (Tyler) and Devon Adams (Stanley); her siblings, Brian Meiner, April Meiner and Scott Meiner; her nieces and nephews, Jayda Meiner, Noah Meiner, Isiah Meiner-Moore and Ava Meiner; and many friends who became chosen family in California, New Jersey and Florida.
She was preceded in death by her beloved grandmother, Ann (Russo) Sternard, whom she loved and adored, and her grandfather Paul Sternard.
A celebration of life service will be announced at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to MUSC in Charleston, South Carolina, in gratitude for the exceptional care Melissa received from the Neuro ICU team during her battle with brain cancer. Donations will help support neuroscience research, patient care, and future families facing similar journeys.
