Michael David Gardner

Michael David Gardner, a resident of North Charleston, South Carolina, passed away on March 17th after a lengthy illness.

Michael was born on June 12, 1961 at Midway hospital in St. Paul, Minnesota. He moved to North Olmsted, Ohio with his family in 1977, where he attended North Olmsted High School.

He moved back to Minnesota in 1982 and began his career as a Pharmacy technician in St. Paul Minnesota at United Children’s hospital. In 1999, he moved to Charleston and continued to work in a suburban Charleston hospital in the pharmacy as a IV technician.

Michael was the son of David and Sylvia Gardner, residents of The Villages, Florida. Beside his parents, Mike is survived by his friend of 40 years, Philip Estep- North Charleston, three siblings, Lynne Gardner Bury and brother-in-law, Joey Bury- Shoreview, Minnesota, Paul Gardner and sister-in-law Kim- Avon, Ohio, Brother, Scott Gardner and partner, Jeremy Pilch- Phoenixville, Pennsyvania, as well as nieces, Madison Gardner-Lakewood, Ohio and Lauren Gardner- Avon, Ohio.

Michael was known by friends and family for his humor and his sensitivity to the underdog (both of the human and animal kind). Michael loved his dog Abby and missed her greatly upon her passing. Mike was a naturally creative person who enjoyed writing in his free time. He loved the old movie stars and read volumes and volumes of biographies of his favorite people. Later in life, Mike became passionate as to his worries about the state of our country, the divisiveness. He watched his cable political shows relentlessly. He said he wished he could do more to change the narrative of his wonderful United States.

 A Celebration of Michael’s life will be held Friday, August 1st at 1pm in the chapel of the Worthington, MN Methodist church. Private burial in Rushmore, MN to follow.
