Michael Ray McCaw
November 10, 1966 - October 25, 2026
Michael Ray McCaw, 59, passed away on October 25, 2026. He was born on November 10,1966, at Columbia Hospital.
Michael was a hardworking, loving man who was incredibly proud of his children and grandchildren. His family meant everything to him, and he especially cherished the time he spent with his grandchildren, nieces, and great-nephew. He took great pride in being a father and grandfather, and the love he had for his family was one of the greatest parts of his life. Michael had a gift for making friends wherever he went. He never met a stranger and had away of connecting with people from all walks of life. His friendly personality and the friendships he made along the way were just another part of what made him so special. He was also a devoted Clemson football fan who enjoyed cheering on his favorite team.
In August 2024, Michael was diagnosed with stage IV colorectal cancer. For the next two years,he faced a long and difficult battle with cancer. Throughout this journey, he showed strength and determination. His battle was not what defined him; rather, it was the love he shared, the family he cherished, and the memories he leaves behind that will forever define his legacy.
Michael is survived by his mother, Linda Jean Thompson; his life partner, Karen Jackson; his children, Luke McCaw (Maria Roberts) and Madison McCaw Moody (JP Moody); his beloved grandchildren, Haedyn Moody and Addisyn Moody, with a new baby boy Moody on the way to join the family; Cali-Marie Knight, Claire Knight, and Caroleina Knight. He is also survived by his brother, Dewayne McCaw (Donna McCaw); his nieces, McKenzie McCaw Murray (Shane Murray) and Emily McCaw; and his great-nephew, Colby Murray. He was preceded in death by his father, Rayford Eugene McCaw, and his stepfather, William Neil Thompson.Though our hearts are broken, we find comfort in knowing that the love he gave and the memories he created will live on through the family he was so proud of. He will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.
