Michelle Francine Byrne

   It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Michelle Francine "Wicki" Welan (Byrne), who died on Friday, June 27, 2025, at Trident Hospital in Ladson, South Carolina, after a long and courageous battle with multiple illnesses. She was 55 years old.

   Wicki was born on May 6, 1970, at the Charleston Naval Hospital in Charleston, South Carolina. She was preceded in death by her beloved brother, Joseph Welan; her mother, Carmen Welan; and her father, Michael Welan.

   Wicki adored her family, found peace at the beach, and had a deep love for nature and her cherished dogs. She enjoyed playing games on her tablet and especially treasured her outings with her sister Jacqueline. The world was truly a better place with her in it.

   She is survived by her siblings, Louise Seel (Bill) of Hartford, North Carolina; John Mclain (Joann) of Detroit, Michigan; Michael Mclain (Nancy) of Virginia Beach, Virginia; Jacqueline Vance of Summerville, South Carolina; Kim Welan (Claudia) of New Orleans, Louisiana; Tamara Welan of Ashland, Ohio; and Jason Welan (Jacqueline) of the United States. She also leaves behind many beloved nieces and nephews.

   Wicki will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
