Nancy Joan Kirby, 80, of North Charleston, SC, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Saturday, May 24, 2025.
Born on July 15, 1944, in Kennett, MO, she was the daughter of the late Dorothy Mae Kirby (West) and Joseph Lee Kirby.
Nancy was a devoted Christian and a compassionate nurse who dedicated 38 years of her life to the nursing profession. In June 1995, she earned her associate degree in nursing from Victor Valley College. She especially loved working in Labor and Delivery, where she found joy in helping bring new life into the world.
Beyond her career, Nancy had a creative spirit. She enjoyed cake decorating, oil painting, and spending time with her beloved cat, Genghis. Her faith was central to her life, and she often found comfort falling asleep to the sound of the Bible being read.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Lee and Dorothy Mae Kirby; her brother-in-law, William Luna; her nephew, Curtis Randolph; and her ex-husband, Donald Pierce, the father of her children.
Nancy is survived by her children, Patience Pierce of Hanahan, SC, and Donald (Annie) Pierce Jr. of Aurora, CO; her grandchildren, Larry (Angela) Wimberley II of Goose Creek, SC, Tara Cox of Summerville, SC, Kaylee (Derek) Cahill of Parker, CO, and Joel (Faith) Pierce of Colorado Springs, CO; her great-grandchildren, Breana Salvo, Hanah Tuttle, Isabella Wimberley, Brodie Cox, Larry Wimberley III, Kinsley Cahill, and Kade Cahill; and her great-great-grandchildren, Rhiannon Ward and Jonah Ward.
She is also survived by her siblings, David (Rosie) Kirby of Hesperia, CA, and Patricia Luna of Memphis, TN; along with many beloved nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins; and special lifelong friends: Mary Lowrey, Susan Garrett, and Genevieve Ramirez.
A memorial service will be held at Calvary Chapel of Charleston, with a broadcast available for those unable to attend in person. Service details will be shared later.
Nancy's journey on earth has ended, but her spirit lives on in the love she gave, the lives she helped bring into the world, and the faith that guided her every step.
