Nancy Irene Markovich

March 30, 1961 - October 20, 2026

Nancy Irene Markovich, 65, passed away peacefully on October 20, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.

Nancy was born on March 30, 1961, in Pennsylvania's Monongahela Valley, where she grew up and graduated from high school. She married her beloved first husband, Dr. Joseph Markovich, and together they shared nearly 30 years of marriage, raising their four children. The family eventually moved to the Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, area in 2002, where Nancy made her home.

Following Joseph's passing in 2011, Nancy remained in Mount Pleasant, where she was an active and beloved member of the pickleball community and a devoted grandmother to her twelve grandchildren, who were truly the light of her life.

A devout Catholic, Nancy found tremendous joy in attending Mass with her grandchildren and teaching them about the beauty and meaning of the Catholic faith. She was also passionate about holistic living, nutrition, and maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Nancy loved sharing her knowledge, and it seemed that everyone who spent time talking with her walked away having learned something new. She also had a great love of travel, adventure, and discovering new places.

Nancy is survived by her second husband, Carl McKenzie, whom she married in 2020; her four children, Phil, Paul, Sandra Nunes, and Daniel; her twelve beloved grandchildren; and her surviving siblings, Regis, John, Mark, Debbie, Judy, and Linda.

Nancy was preceded in death by her beloved first husband, Dr. Joseph Markovich; her parents, Regis and Irene Leach; and her cherished sister, Kathy Wyland. Her family takes comfort in knowing that she has been reunited with them in heaven.

Nancy will be remembered for her unwavering faith, adventurous spirit, love of learning, and extraordinary devotion to her children and grandchildren.

May she rest in eternal peace.
