Pamela Stokes Hale

Pamela Ann Stokes Hale, born July 12, 1946, in Quantico, Virginia, passed away on April 14, 2026. Throughout her life, Pamela called Norfolk and Virginia Beach, Virginia, and Charleston, South Carolina, home. 

Pamela was the daughter of John Thomas Stokes, Jr. and Margaret E. Farley Stokes. She was married to George Richard Hale from 1971 until his passing in 2011.She is survived by her sons, George Clay Hale and his wife, Sarah Hale, and John Farley Hale and his wife, Lauryn Hale; her stepson, George Richard Hale II and his wife, Christie Hale; six grandchildren, Zachary Hale, Tobie Hale, Josh Hale, Mia Dodd, Shayne Hale, and Everett Hale; and six great-grandchildren. 

Pamela graduated from Princess Anne High School in Virginia Beach before attending the Medical College of Virginia in Richmond, where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 1968. She went on to build a distinguished career dedicated to public service. Pamela became the first female Supervisory Public Health Nurse in Virginia Beach and later served with U.S. Probation for the Eastern District of Virginia, retiring as Deputy Chief. Following retirement, Pamela continued giving her time to her community as a volunteer docent at the Historic Fireproof Building in Charleston, South Carolina.

A scripture that beautifully reflects Pamela's life and the love she shared with those around her is simple and enduring: "Love never fails."Pamela will always be remembered for her warm smile, optimistic outlook on life, and unwavering devotion to her family. Family was always at the heart of everything she did, and her faith in God remained an important and guiding presence throughout her life.

A Celebration of Life will be held in Charleston, South Carolina, on October 24, 2026, and is open to all who wish to join Pamela's family in remembering and celebrating her life. Please reach out to one of her sons for additional details.
