Patricia Lois Shoesmith

Patricia Lois Shoesmith (Pat), 90, passed away peacefully Sunday May 7^th, 2023 at the Roper Hospice Cottage in Mt. Pleasant, SC after a brief illness. 

Pat was born in Fall River, Massachusetts to Ralph and Edith Chace on August 5th, 1932. After marriage, she became a homemaker for three children while Don spent his career in the United States Navy. She enjoyed entertaining, especially with her husband “Shoe” and the rest of her family. She homed and loved many dogs over the years. She also worked for Charleston County Parks and Recreation for over 10 years. Pat was very active with volunteering for several different organizations on James Island and the surrounding areas. She spent many hours at the Lowcountry Senior Center enjoying exercise classes and helping out others. Her Bunco group was her favorite get together for years. Her friends were a very important part of her life but her grandchildren and great grandchildren brought her so much joy as well. 

Pat is survived by her husband Donald E. Shoesmith of 70 years and their three children: Debbie L. Robison (Mark), Danny D. Shoesmith, and Donna C. Chace (Oren). Grandchildren- Brett Robison (Robin), Brad Robison (Katie Beth), Katlyn Straup (Ryan), and Kyle Chace (Mary Katherine). Great grandchildren- Austin and Hudson Robison and Chace and Riley Straup. Step great grandchildren- Chelsea Moses, Camerin Mcgriff, Calex Harris, Zoe Harris. She is also survived by her dear sister, Marilyn Fortin of Warren, Rhode Island.

She was predeceased by her brothers Allen Chace and Daniel Chace. 

Services will be held on Saturday May 13, 2023 at 10AM at McAllister-Smith Funeral & Cremation-James Island, 347 Folly Rd, Charleston, SC 29412.
