P. Anne Pell, 79, passed away peacefully with her family by her side Thursday May 5, 2022 at Roper Hospital in Charleston, South Carolina after a brief illness. She was born in Danville, VA, the daughter of Arthur and Lena Stutz. Anne led a successful career as a real estate broker for many years in Maryland. She retired two years ago to Pawley’s Island, SC.
Anne was a passionate mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved gardening, animals, boating, travel, reading and the ocean. Anne always loved having a dog in her life and she is pre-deceased by her beloved dog Lady. An avid reader, Anne would read 7-8 books a week and enjoyed watching the wildlife in her backyard pond while tending to her flowers. Anne walked through life with her partner Colan Lanier for many years.
Anne is survived by significant other Colan Lanier of Pawley’s Island, SC, daughters Renee Smith and husband Chip of Conway, SC, and Dee Owens and husband Sam of Aldie, VA. Colan’s sons Trey with his wife Gretchen of Seattle, WA, Cregg and wife Michelle of Charlotte, NC and Chad with his wife Candy of Opileka, AL.
Anne had 7 grand-children: Brad and wife Jenny of Cleveland, OH; Tim and wife Monica of Aldie, VA; Erica and husband Caleb of Purcellville, VA; Rachel and husband Corey of Bluemont, VA; Jessica and husband Stephen of Berryville, VA; Ryan of Conway, SC and Quinn of Opelika, AL. She also had 7 great-grandchildren; Aaron, Abby, Aurora, Beckett, Eliana, Lia and Piper.
There will be a celebration of life at a date to be announced. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you donate to a responsible animal fund of your choosing.
